Bij deze weer een post na lange tijd. We hebben recentelijk onze 2e EP “7 is a Number” losgelaten op de wereld. Het heeft even mogen duren, maar we zijn erg tevreden met het resultaat. We hebben in de tussentijd ook de website volledig vernieuwd, en hebben een gig gedaan in Atak te Enschede samen met Black Boys on Mopeds. Foto’s staan hier!
Er staan een boel dingen te gebeuren de aankomende tijd waaronder een nieuwe remix van 7 is a Number, een videoclip en een aantal gigs. Ook gaan we weer regelmatig posten met updates, dus hou de site in de gaten!
The 7 is a number news just keeps on coming. Besides the tracks we recorded at the Barn in the Meadow studio, the new EP will also feature a remix of the title song ’7 is the number’, mixed by the fabulous mister Jeffrey van Rossum. Expect some serious stomping beats which are sure to get your feet moving! Zambezi Drive will sound like you never heard before.
Once more a “7 Is A Number” related post. We’re down to the 3rd mix of the EP and we’re almost satisfied. Finally everything sounds as it should! A preview for everyone that’s been waiting so long for this record to come out: the drums are banging like wooden sticks on metal plates, the bass tingles the earlobe, piano and guitar solos are crammed down to the bare minimum (zero, that is) and the vocal harmonies are just…as sublime as ever. With lyrics that range from gay-melodrama to hot nights out in the weekend, this is a record you just can’t afford to miss!

A couple of weeks ago Zambezi Drive recorded their second EP in the Barn In The Meadow studio. It’s being mixed and mastered as we speak by Jordi, the cover design is being designed as we speak by Jos, ball’s are rolling! And currently we are having a wee break because of the absence of Jelmer, our bass player. He’s on a long holiday for a little while but will return shortly. After that, expect an Autumn Party and a Winter Party, just like the very successful Summer Party in June! Oh sjips, the EP is called “7 Is A Number”, because well…it is, isn’t it…? Anyway, stay tuned.

Ladies and Gentlemen, next to our experiments at home recording we’ve also planned a date to record the 2nd Zambezi Drive EP! We’ll be helped out by mr. David van Putten from the fantastic band ‘Frisco Bay’ The magic will happen on the 26th and 27th of June. Release is expected in August/September.
Today, we recorded Tijmens drums! No fancy studio, just his old childhood bedroom to let the memories linger and get into the right mood. After fueling up on coffee and peanutbutter sandwiches (thank you, Mr and Mrs Ruizendaal!!) he laid down some pretty good one-takers.
Yes, that’s right. Zambezi Drive will be recording some songs over the next few weeks. The experiment here is that we’ll be doing it by ourselves… or at least trying to… Of course recording music is not easy, but we thought: we have some great equipment, we have the software and we have the songs, so why not give it a shot. Drum sessions are scheduled for next week and after that it’s just a matter of adding the rest of the instruments and mix. The songs that are gonna be recorded are We Hate The Economy, I’m Gonna Go To Bed and Put Your Lights On.
Okay, so things have been a bit quiet around here. But that´s just because we´ve been too busy to update this website and everything. You know, we have jobs too to support our rock ´n roll lifestyle. That takes up quite some time. And…we´ve been pretty occupied with writing new stuff, playing new instruments and making it all fit in the unique experience that is Zambezi Drive.
One more important thing: on Saturday June 19 we will be playing a venue in De Bilt near Utrecht. It´s not just gonna be a band night, it´s gonna be a night full of live music, cool DJ´s and excellent drinks, a celebration for the summer. More details will follow shortly, but just… mark the day.
Last Sunday (Dec 26st) Zambezi Drive played a short show for Chateau Ravage, a Dutch radioshow, hosted by the ever-enthusiastic Bob and Boudewijn. Unfortunately Piet couldn’t make it due to obligations in Belgrade, but Jelmer, Tijmen and Maarten played a nice acoustic set. A lot of fun and nice experience to be playing live on the air.
